Outpatient consultation for neonatal care
- Post-discharge check-up for newborns and recommendations for initial care.
- Check-up for newborns discharged from hospital after requiring admission to the Neonatology Service.
- Specialised care designed for the specific monitoring of newborns considered at risk, with the implementation of personalised programmes, in close coordination with the Occupational Therapy and Early Intervention Services.
- Special attention is given to malformations, neurodevelopmental disorders and genetic disorders with complex diagnoses and prognoses.
Specialised care by risk pathology:
- Newborns with a birth weight of less than 1,500 grams or less than 32 weeks.
- Congenital infection or suspected infection.
- Bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
- Neurological pathology or neurological risk (hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy, extreme prematurity, altered neurological clinical picture, abnormalities in neonatal brain ultrasound, genetic and metabolic diseases, malformations of the central nervous system).
- Congenital heart disease.
- Neonatal haemodynamic failure.
- Neonatal post-surgery.
- Metabolic disorders.
- Intrauterine growth restriction.
- Patients who required neonatal mechanical ventilation.

Prenatal diagnostic and prognostic consultation for intrauterine pathology
In collaboration with the Obstetrics Department, individual prenatal paediatric consultations are provided in cases where there is a foetal or maternal pathology or an antenatal diagnosis or risk, that so require. This consultation has a multidisciplinary approach, involving the Obstetrics Service, particularly the Pathological or High-Risk Pregnancy Unit, the Diagnostic Imaging Service, which includes foetal magnetic resonance imaging, the Genetics Service, and various paediatric and surgical specialists.
Outpatient paediatrics and adolescent consultation
Individual monitoring of healthy children with a particular focus on nutritional aspects and eating disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Priority care for intercurrent illnesses.
Consultation for all paediatric conditions. In addition to acute patients and those with seasonal epidemic incidence, this consultation treats children with a wide range of complex conditions relating to the paediatric specialisation.
Neonatal and paediatric cerebral Doppler ultrasound consultation
Dr. Cabañas and his team are leaders in cerebral Doppler ultrasound, and are international pioneers in the diagnosis of congenital and acquired brain disorders.
Evaluation of brain disorders detected using neuroimaging techniques and their clinical and prognostic implications.
