Q: Do I need an appointment to visit the emergency department?

A: No appointment is necessary. Our emergency department is open 24/7, 365 days a year, and welcomes walk-in patients for emergency medical care in Tenerife.

Q: What should I bring to the emergency room?

A: Please bring a valid ID, your medical insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medications you are currently taking. This helps our doctors provide the best care.

Q: Are pediatric emergency services available?

A: Yes, although we currently do not have a permanent on-site paediatrician in the Emergency Department, we have an organised and efficient system in place to ensure paediatric care is provided whenever needed.

• From Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, a paediatrician is available on-site at the hospital.
• At weekends and on public holidays, the paediatrician is on call and can be activated if necessary.

When a family brings a child to the Emergency Department, we offer two options for care:

• Registration through the Emergency Department: the child will initially be assessed by a general practitioner. If needed, the paediatrician will be contacted either to attend in the Emergency Department or to see the patient in the outpatient clinic, located just next to the Emergency area (a one-minute walk).

• Direct access via Outpatient Consultations: the child may be seen directly by the paediatrician on duty, being added to the day’s consultation list as a walk-in patient.

If the child requires hospital admission, the paediatrician will be fully responsible for their care throughout the hospital stay (ward rounds, clinical monitoring and discharge).
