General Surgery

The Da Vinci Surgical System is a robot that helps the surgeon perform highly complex procedures through minimal incisions in the skin, resulting in more accurate surgery with less risk and faster recovery.

Da Vinci robotic surgery is used in a multidisciplinary way to treat both benign and malignant (oncological) pathologies.

In general surgery, it can be applied to:

  • Colorectal surgery
  • Oesophagogastric surgery
  • Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery
  • Abdominal wall surgery (hernia)
  • Bariatric surgery
  • Endocrine surgery

Advantages of robotic surgery in general surgery

  • Reduction of incisions and less involvement of muscle walls and other tissues surrounding the area of intervention.
  • Less blood loss and therefore less need for transfusions.
  • Less post-operative pain.
  • Faster recovery.
  • Lower risk of complications.
  • Lower risk of surgical infections.
  • Shorter hospital stay.
  • Faster recovery with early return to daily activities.
  • Less need for further surgery.

In the case of tumours, robotic surgery allows for greater accuracy in removing the affected tissue.
