Cardiology
The Cardiology Service at Olympia Centro Médico Pozuelo, led by Dr. José Ángel Cabrera Rodríguez, offers comprehensive care in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in adults.
We have a multidisciplinary team of doctors and nurses specialising in areas such as arrhythmias, heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiac imaging and sports cardiology, together with the latest diagnostic technology.
All of this allows us to provide a personalised, safe and excellent service.
Technology
- Holter electrocardiogram monitoring

Holter electrocardiogram monitoring
Electrocardiogram monitoring over different time periods (from 24 hours to longer recordings).
- Wireless monitoring

Wireless monitoring
Wireless electrocardiogram monitoring with the possibility of prolonged and real-time monitoring. This is one of the most innovative techniques for recording heart rhythm and, thanks to the convenience of the absence of wires, it is especially indicated in cases that require very prolonged monitoring or in situations that benefit from real-time monitoring, such as when doing sports.
- Holter blood pressure monitoring

Holter blood pressure monitoring
24-hour daytime and night-time blood pressure monitoring.
- Doppler echocardiogram

Doppler echocardiogram
Next-generation devices that provide high quality images as well as monitoring and analysis of the function of valves and other cardiac structures. With the possibility of 3D and 4D transthoracic and transoesophageal studies.
- Ergometry
Ergometry
Analysis of the response of the cardiovascular system to exercise in terms of heart rate, blood pressure and detection of alterations in the coronary circulation.
- Gas ergometry (ergospirometry)

Gas ergometry (ergospirometry)
Analysis of the response of the respiratory and cardiovascular system to exercise: heart rate, blood pressure, alterations of the coronary circulation, pulmonary and muscular function. In addition to its use for diagnostic purposes, it enables the prescription of exercise adapted to previous pathologies or the design of personalised training plans.
- Stress echocardiogram

Stress echocardiogram
We have an ergometric stretcher with pedals that can be adjusted to better adapt to the patient’s characteristics, which allows for more comfortable exercise. It provides a complete analysis, with cardiac imaging support, of the response of the cardiovascular system to exercise in terms of heart rate, blood pressure and detection of coronary circulation alterations.
- Cardiac MRI

Cardiac MRI
Advanced cardiac imaging study that enables the assessment of both cardiac structures and the characteristics of the myocardium, as well as checking if there are sequelae of previous cardiology processes.
- Cardiac computerised tomography

Cardiac computerised tomography
Imaging technique that uses X-rays to create detailed images of the heart and blood vessels. This test allows for the evaluation of the structure and function of the heart, as well as the identification of possible heart conditions.
Featured treatments

Preventive cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation
The purpose of this unit is the recovery and prevention of relapses in people who have suffered a cardiovascular problem (heart attack, heart failure, atherosclerosis), as well as preventing the development of cardiovascular disease among the general population, especially in relatives of people who have already suffered cardiovascular problems. In addition to checking the patient’s current cardiovascular health, we make a personalised estimate of their risk of developing cardiovascular disease, we diagnose risk factors (obesity, high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, smoking, etc.), provide personalised treatments (optimisation of previous treatment, weight loss, prescription of personalised exercise regime, smoking cessation, control of blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes...) and follow-up.

Sports cardiology
A unit whose main objectives are, first and foremost, to rule out cardiovascular disease in apparently healthy individuals of any age, who want to start doing sport or are already practising it at any level. Secondly, to prescribe personalised appropriate physical or sports activity to all persons, athletes or not, who suffer from some type of cardiovascular disease, minimising the risks of suffering a serious event or exercise accelerating the progression of their disease. Finally, to assess the physiological cardiovascular adjustments specific to the trained athlete and to try to determine possible medical causes related to a decrease in physical performance.

Arrhythmias and prevention of sudden death
Provides diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of cardiac arrhythmias and syncope, as well as risk assessment for sudden death based on personal and family history, advanced imaging studies, cardiac rhythm monitoring (including when required for prolonged periods or in real time), functional studies in exercise and genetic study.

Cardiac imaging
Cardiovascular imaging both at rest and during exercise is an essential part of the management of all patients with, or suspected of having, cardiovascular disease. Diagnostic imaging tests provide crucial information for patient management and, above all, for the early diagnosis of cardiovascular disease.

General cardiology, heart failure and valvular heart disease
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Spain. We handle the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of these pathologies.
