Neurophysiology is the part of Physiology that studies the nervous system, while Physiology is the biological science that studies the dynamics of living organisms. In practice, Neurophysiology studies the dynamics of the nervous system’s bioelectrical activity.
Clinical Neurophysiology is a medical specialisation that, based on the knowledge generated by basic neurosciences, has the objective of functionally examining the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), peripheral nervous system (nerves and sensory organs) and vegetative or autonomic nervous system (sympathetic and parasympathetic), using highly specialised technology to provide diagnoses, prognoses and therapeutic orientation.
