Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital, at the forefront of hair transplant procedures

With the purpose of offering an excellent and differential service portfolio in its catchment area, Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital has recently announced the opening of a new unit specialised in Hair Health that provides patients with comprehensive and expert solutions to every hair-related pathology.

This healthcare project emerges from the medical proposal of the new branch that Clínica Dermatológica Internacional (CDI) has opened in cooperation with our Marbella hospital, which has welcomed one of the greatest experts in this speciality, Dr Luis Roberto Trivellini. As a worldwide reference in the field of hair transplant, he stands out for his development of innovative technique Long Hair F.U.E. of which he is the forerunner. This is the only procedure in the world that allows the performance of hair transplant in long hair, avoiding head shaving, and using minimally-invasive undetectable surgery that does not leave scars. "Many permanent advances in hair transplant have been made in the last 20 years. The opening era for the first transplant techniques has led us to what we are doing now, the innovative follicular extraction technique known as F.U.E. (Follicular Unit Extraction). With this technique, we extract follicular units without the need to make cuts into the scalp. Using a specific device and a very precise technique, we extract each follicular unit and reimplant it into the hairless areas, thus attaining an absolutely natural result with no scars, which means that the patient can return to his social and working life only a few days after the implant", explains Doctor Trivellini.

Another advantage of the F.U.E. technique is that it is performed under local anaesthetics applied to the area of treatment, which allows the patient to be able to read, watch a movie, work on a portable computer or simply listen to music and relax. As the expert explains "the session usually takes 4 to 8 hours, depending on the amount of follicular units that need to be transplanted. In any case, we always try to make the patient feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible".

Dr Ricardo Ruiz, the Head of the Dermatology Unit of Hospital Ruber Internacional, is the promoter of CDI and he created the first medical centre in Spain to perform clinical, surgical, oncological, paediatric and repair dermatology procedures at the same time, using operating theatres specialised in the treatment of skin cancer and hair transplant, an anatomic pathology laboratory and a genetics unit.
