Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital has donated an adaptive trail chair to CD Ultra Trail Sierra Blanca Sports Club
This donation has been made possible thanks to the Fundacion Quirónsalud Trust which took care of the formalities necessary to cover the costs of purchasing this device to help people with mobility issues.

Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital has provided the CD Ultra Trail Sierra Blanca Sports Club with an adaptive trail chair for child and adult use in mountain races or hiking trails. This donation has been made possible thanks to the Fundacion Quirónsalud Trust which took care of the formalities necessary to cover the costs of purchasing this device to help people with mobility issues. This is the first chair this Marbella sports club receives from a private institution.
This initiative originated in a request made by the representatives of the local club for this specific trail chair model to provide social inclusion for people in the mountain races they organised. The CEO of CD Ultra Trail Sierra Blanca, Francisco Viegas explained: "We are truly happy to have received this donation which helps us materialise our dream of sharing unforgettable moments on the mountain with those who find it most difficult to be there. This is a very special chair, as only one company in the whole of Europe manufactures this type of chair that provides all the safety features to carry our most special participants".
Teresa Álvarez, the Manager of the Fundacion Quirónsalud Trust highlighted the social commitment involved in this proposal. "It is with great pride that we support an initiative that enriches Marbella’s society. It is very rewarding to be involved in a project that arises from a sense of empathy and with the purpose of breaking down barriers so that nothing can prevent the enjoyment of open air experiences. Specially, in such a privileged enclave as that of the Costa del Sol".
This chair was donated also on the commitment that it would become an element of enjoyment at the service of all the citizens in this town. In this sense, the CD Ultra Trail Sierra Blanca Sports Club has already scheduled activities with other town clubs and Non-Government Institutions. One of them is the Child Diversity Care Association (CADI, in its Spanish acronym) the managers of which have expressed their enthusiasm for the new options ahead. Rosa Ruiz, a member of CADI stated: "The mountain remained a pending matter due to the motor difficulties it posed. With this initiative we have been given wings and our children will experience what it is to feel free in the open air. There are so many limitations we face on a daily basis that our only purpose is for them to enjoy these kinds of moments".
The Fundacion Quirónsalud Trust has an institutional purpose, i.e., promoting health and healthy lifestyles through education, promoting research and social action for patients, patient associations and their families as well as the society as a whole.
