Awards That Recognize the Human Side of Healthcare

The Latido Awards were created to recognize the work of healthcare professionals, scientific societies, organizations, patient associations, and companies that contribute to improving the health and well-being of the population. Organized by Medicina Responsable, these awards highlight initiatives that promote clinical excellence, research, innovation, scientific outreach, digital transformation, and the humanization of healthcare.

Over the course of four editions, the Latido Awards have become a benchmark within the Spanish healthcare ecosystem, recognizing projects that have a real impact on patients’ lives and fostering a more human and compassionate vision of medicine. According to the organizers, these awards not only celebrate professional achievements but also honor values, inspiring stories of resilience, and initiatives capable of transforming the healthcare system.

A Gala Defined by Excellence and Innovation

The 2026 edition recognized some of the most outstanding projects in Spain’s healthcare sector. Award recipients included the Spanish Myeloma Group, the awareness campaign promoted by Leo Pharma to highlight the reality of people living with epidermolysis bullosa—commonly known as "butterfly skin"—as well as innovative initiatives such as Mamás en Acción, CardiologIA Madrid 365, Oxiconecta, and the program "Aquí hay un farmacéutico" ("There Is a Pharmacist Here"), all examples of the positive impact that collaboration, technology, and human-centered care can have on healthcare delivery.

During the ceremony, Dr. Juan Vidal also played a prominent role by presenting the 2026 Latido Award for Healthcare Professional of the Year to the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Team at Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre. The award recognized the team’s contribution to improving the health and quality of life of thousands of children and their families.
