On 1 October, Ruber Internacional Hospital will open its new Emergency Department, a pioneering project in Madrid's private healthcare sector that combines immediacy, medical excellence and continuity of care.

The service is directed by Dr Javier Taboada, a specialist in internal medicine, and has an outstanding team of more than 15 specialists in critical and non-critical emergency care, with extensive experience in leading hospitals, both in the Community of Madrid and internationally. In addition, it has a multidisciplinary team in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine, as well as in Intensive Care Medicine and Coronary Care Units, responsible for attending to the hospital's ICU.

The new unit only treats private patients, not those with insurance, and is distinguished by reducing waiting times in the emergency room as much as possible. Each patient will be seen directly by a specialist doctor upon arrival, which allows for greater agility and guarantees clinical safety from the outset.

The service is designed to treat all levels of complexity, from mild cases to critical situations, with a protocol that prioritises speed, personalisation and quality of care.

The area has a high-resolution testing circuit (radiology, laboratory, CT, MRI, ultrasound, etc.) and advanced monitoring equipment, which allows patients to complete diagnosis, treatment and follow-up planning in a single day, avoiding unnecessary travel and delays. It is located close to operating theatres and the ICU for rapid referrals.
‘This model represents a change in the way we understand emergency care: we eliminate waiting times and offer a comprehensive circuit that ensures immediacy and continuity of care,’ explains Dr. Javier Taboada.

It has 11 single rooms with bathrooms, designed to offer privacy and comfort to patients and families throughout the care process.
In addition, the new service is integrated with all the hospital's specialities. From the moment a patient enters the emergency department, they are identified and connected with the rest of the medical teams, ensuring coordinated follow-up and maintaining the doctor-patient relationship at all times.

‘The aim is for everyone who comes to the emergency department to receive fast and safe care, with immediate access to all the hospital's specialities and resources,’ adds Dr Taboada.

The Emergency Department will operate continuously, providing coverage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and will respond to paediatric, gynaecological, obstetric and adult emergencies.

‘The new unit has been created with the aim of becoming a benchmark for emergency care in the private sector in Madrid,’ concludes Dr. Javier Taboada.
