The Reproduction Unit at Ruber Internacional Hospital took part in the biannual scientific meeting held last week in Madrid, where it played a leading role in the round table discussion on ‘The Future of Fertility’, which analysed how scientific and technological advances will shape clinical practice in the coming years.

The session was moderated by Dr. Silvia Iniesta, head of the Reproduction Unit at La Paz University Hospital and gynaecologist at the Reproduction Unit at Ruber Internacional, who led a dynamic debate among leading national specialists.

The scientific part of the session featured presentations of great interest, focusing on the role of metabolic imaging applied to the study of oocytes, embryos and implantation, by Dr Samuel Ojosnegros, a researcher specialising in the human embryo implantation process.

Likewise, Lluís Montoliu, Doctor of Biology and Researcher at the Spanish National Research Council, addressed the latest biotechnological advances in animal models with translational potential for reproductive medicine. These presentations laid the foundations for an enriching dialogue between clinicians and scientists.

This was followed by a debate on the real applicability of these innovations in daily practice. Dr Elena Carrillo de Albornoz, medical director of the Reproduction Unit at Ruber Internacional Hospital, and Dr Beatriz Bueno, gynaecologist at the same unit, participated in the debate, emphasising the need to integrate new technologies in an ethical and responsible manner into patient care.

This meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation between centres, ethical and scientific reflection, and a commitment to transferring advances from the laboratory to the consulting room, with the aim of offering women and families increasingly effective and personalised reproductive treatments.
