One in three health problems manifests in the skin.

Skin diseases are increasing in both prevalence and complexity, driven by factors such as an aging population, lifestyle changes, environmental exposure, and the rise of aesthetic dermatology. In this context, the need to improve access to reliable medical information and specialized training to ensure proper skin health care becomes essential.
The skin, the largest organ in the human body, not only acts as a protective barrier but also reflects overall health status. Many systemic conditions—from autoimmune diseases to infections or tumor processes—present with cutaneous manifestations that can be key to early diagnosis.
At the same time, the growing interest in aesthetic treatments and the spread of unverified information—especially in digital environments—are creating new challenges for both professionals and patients. The improper use of minimally invasive techniques or the trivialization of medical procedures can lead to avoidable complications.
In response to this need, dermatologists Ricardo Ruiz Rodríguez, Medical Director of Clínica Dermatológica Internacional (CDI) and Head of the Dermatology Department at Hospital Ruber Internacional, and Pedro Rodríguez Jiménez, dermatologist at CDI and Deputy Head of the Dermatology Department at the same hospital, have coordinated the book Dermatología Clínica y Estética (Editorial Médica Panamericana). This work brings together the expertise of specialists across the main areas of the field and aims to serve as a reference tool for healthcare professionals.

It also includes a dedicated section on aesthetic dermatology, offering a rigorous analysis of facial rejuvenation procedures, techniques to restore facial volume, and energy-based technologies.
With more than 1,200 pages and extensive support from high-resolution clinical images, the manual is designed to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions through a practical, evidence-based approach.
Dermatologists from various parts of Spain contributed to its development, with a strong representation from Clínica Dermatológica Internacional (CDI), an accredited reference center for dermatology training, further reinforcing the publication’s clinical rigor.
At a time marked by the emergence of artificial intelligence tools in content generation, Dr. Ricardo Ruiz and Dr. Pedro Rodríguez emphasize the importance of relying on solid, verified medical sources. Works like this represent a structured compendium of validated knowledge, essential for ensuring high-quality healthcare.
Dermatología Clínica y Estética is a leading reference text aimed at dermatologists, physicians in training, and other healthcare professionals interested in the specialty. The book aspires to become a key tool in daily clinical practice by combining scientific thoroughness with an accessible and practical approach.
In a context where there is currently no dermatology reference book in Spanish with this level of up-to-date content and scope, this publication seeks to fill that gap and establish itself as a fundamental work in the field of dermatology.
