The Quirónsalud Training Stay Fellowships aim to encourage those professionals within the Quirónsalud Group who demonstrate an innovative spirit and seek to enhance their expertise in patient care and biomedical research.

Therefore, this category will include initiatives and proposals from professionals who wish to receive training in cutting-edge techniques, engage in a specific research collaboration with national or international groups, or carry out a rotation in a prestigious institution that adds value to the work they perform within the Quirónsalud Group

Categories

Two categories of Training Stay (national and international) are announced, consisting of travel grants intended for Quirónsalud professionals who need to complete a stay in national or international hospitals or research centers, which, upon their return, will provide a benefit to the Quirónsalud center where they carry out their professional activity.

The travel grants will be used for stays with a suggested minimum duration of 2 weeks (shorter durations will be evaluated by the Evaluation Committee) and a maximum of 4 weeks, with the following funding:

Stay allowance:

  • Stay in national centers: €500 per grant/week
  • Stay in international centers: €1,000 per grant/week

Travel expenses: up to a maximum of:

  • €300 for stays in national centers
  • €800 in European centers
  • €2,000 in non-European international centers

The number of scholarships awarded will be adjusted based on financial availability and the demand for each type of travel grant. A maximum of one Training Stay Grant will be awarded per applicant. This call has a maximum funding of €18,000: €6,000 for national stays and €12,000 for international stays.

Applicant requirements

This call is open to all healthcare professionals who carry out their clinical activity exclusively in a center belonging to the Quirónsalud Group, either through an employment or professional services relationship.

The training stay must take place during the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2026.

The applicant must have been affiliated with a Quirónsalud center for at least 1 year and must remain exclusively affiliated with the same center for a minimum period of 2 years, starting from their return to their original center. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the reimbursement to the Quirónsalud Group, at the applicant's personal expense, of the full amount of the grant received (weekly allowance plus travel expenses).

The technique, process, or research line supported by the grant must be implemented in the grant recipient's home center within a maximum period of six months from their return. In the case of a collaboration, the results must also have been applied within this timeframe.

The candidate agrees to submit a final report of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 pages, to be delivered to the Research and Innovation Department of the Quirónsalud Group within one month after the applicant’s return, detailing the objectives achieved during the training stay. Additionally, the candidate must submit a second report, of the same length (2–6 pages), six months after returning to the original center, reporting the impact that the implementation of the newly acquired knowledge is having at their workplace—whether through innovation in clinical practice or care processes, or through ongoing or completed publications.

Failure to meet these requirements will result in the reimbursement of the grant amount by the hospital, as well as a penalty that will disqualify the center from presenting new candidates for the next three calls.

The grant recipient agrees to acknowledge the Quirónsalud Group in all oral and written communications arising from the training stay. To this end, any scientific production must be affiliated with the Quirónsalud Group center where the professional carries out their activity, in accordance with the guidelines established in the Quirónsalud Publication Affiliation Policy. Additionally, the grant awarded by the Research and Innovation Department of the Quirónsalud Group must be cited. For any questions regarding affiliation, applicants may contact qs.investigacion@quironsalud.es or consult the information available on the Quirónsalud research website.

If the research results are likely to generate industrial and/or intellectual property rights, ownership, management, and exploitation will belong to the entity with which the grant recipient has a contractual relationship.

The results obtained from the training stays will be published and disseminated among the staff of the Quirónsalud Group.

Lastly, the grant recipient commits to remaining for 12 months after the end of the training stay at the Quirónsalud hospital or center to which they were affiliated at the time the grant was awarded, unless the termination of the contractual relationship is due to reasons attributable to Quirónsalud. Breach of this commitment will entitle Quirónsalud to request reimbursement of the grant received.

Place and deadline for submission

Applications must be submitted using the form available on the Quirónsalud website under the "Research and Innovation" section.

Applicants may submit their documentation from January 20 to April 20, 2025, both dates inclusive.

Documentation must be submitted in Spanish and/or English. Incomplete applications will be rejected and not reviewed by the jury.

Evaluation of applications and resolution

A preliminary evaluation will be conducted to exclude any applications that lack the required documents and information. The submitted applications will be evaluated by a Jury composed of representatives of the Quirónsalud Group and external advisors of recognized prestige in the field of healthcare, appointed by the Group's Management Committee upon the proposal of the Corporate Research and Innovation Department. The composition of the Jury will be announced once it has been established and will include adequate representation from various specialties. Furthermore, any individual directly or indirectly involved with any submitted application will be excluded from Jury deliberations.

The evaluation of applications will consider and assess:

  • The relevance and impact of the application in terms of care innovation that the grant aims to support.
  • Feasible and sustainable proposals, creative and distinctive, that provide a return to the original center with the potential for transformation and innovation.
  • The inclusion of a plan or program for implementing the technique.
  • The applicant’s ability to execute the project, including their prior clinical and research experience, as well as any other factors the Evaluation Committee considers aligned with the objectives of this call.
  • Applications focused on improving care in areas with high clinical activity in Quirónsalud centers: cancer, neurosciences, cardiology, musculoskeletal system, women's and children's health, and respiratory diseases.

The Jury’s decision will be final and will be communicated in writing to the applicants immediately after its resolution. The Jury may declare the grants void if, in its opinion, the submitted proposals do not meet the required level.

Submitted documentation will not be returned.

The award ceremony will be duly announced and will take place in Madrid in June 2025.

It is a mandatory condition that the awardee attend the award ceremony to receive the grant, except in the case of awardees belonging to Quirónsalud centers located outside of Spain, in which case online attendance will be required. Otherwise, the Quirónsalud Group reserves the right to cancel the grant.
